Balewou~ Light Chestnut by Cindy Williams

This amazing horse has been hiding out in my china hutch long enough! He needs to get out and into the show ring! Artist Cindy Williams is well known for her ability to capture realism in her paint jobs, and this Balewou painted by her is no exception. Cindy's choice of light chestnut with a bold white face accentuates this horse's best qualities. She has painted his open mouth and teeth so delicately, the detail is absolutely awesome. My camera can't get close enough to show his tongue or the ridges in the roof of his mouth, but he is amazing to behold.  Beautiful and unusual eyes as well!  Cindy, you have done a terrific job on this horse!   $365.

Sculpting artist, Melanie Schulmeyer, of Germany, did extensive research before sculpting the African Dongola horse, Balewou and she also researched the native African costume as well. Here, Balewou is wearing a costume made by Melanie. The bit fits perfectly across his tongue and the animal hide draped across the saddle is typical of these one-of-a-kind hand made costumes.  Naturally, this costume is not for sale, but Melanie could probably make another one!
